DUO BANDINI-CHIACCHIARETTA
BIO
Giampaolo Bandini and Cesare Chiacchiaretta form one of today’s leading ensembles dedicated to the music of Argentina, blending the expressive power of classical guitar and bandoneon with extraordinary artistry and stage charisma. Celebrating over eighteen years of collaboration, the duo has become a major presence on the international concert scene, touring more than fifty countries and appearing regularly throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America.
Signed by Decca Records in 2016, the duo released their acclaimed debut album Escualo in 2017. Their performances have brought them to major venues and festivals worldwide, with recent engagements in Berlin, Budapest, Toronto, and collaborations with renowned mandolinist Avi Avital. Upcoming seasons include tours across the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Korea, Germany, Austria, and Poland.
Bandini and Chiacchiaretta have performed Astor Piazzolla’s Hommage à Liège under the direction of legendary composer and conductor Leo Brouwer, who also composed and dedicated a new work to the duo in 2017. They are frequently invited as soloists with orchestras including the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra of Kiev, and orchestras throughout Europe, Asia, Mexico, and the United States.
Their artistry has inspired important composers such as Daniel Binelli and Máximo Diego Pujol, whose concerto Luminosa Buenos Aires was dedicated to the duo and later recorded for international release. Their first recording, Hombres de Tango, sold more than ten thousand copies and established them as leading interpreters of tango and Argentine repertoire.
Beyond the concert stage, both artists are active educators and frequently present masterclasses at international festivals, conservatories, and universities. They currently teach at the Institutes of Higher Education “Luigi Boccherini” in Lucca and “Umberto Giordano” in Foggia. Giampaolo Bandini performs on a Dennis Tolz guitar and is sponsored by D’Addario.
